While traveling to Florida to visit a friend from college, Dr. Simmons fell in love with Tuscaloosa. He began working with Dr. J.W. Ammons at The Ammons Clinic downtown. When Dr. Ammons relocated, Dr. Simmons took over and renamed it Simmons Chiropractic Clinic. He also established two other clinics, one in Eutaw and another in Florence, but as demand grew, he eventually focused entirely on his Tuscaloosa practice.

Over the years, Dr. Simmons treated thousands of patients, and employed several doctors, some of whom practice in the area currently. In 1971, he married Ms. Doris Watkins, who also became his office manager for the next 29 years. In the early 1990s, they renamed the office Simmons Chiropractic Center. In May 2000, Dr. Simmons passed away, but the clinic remained in operation until 2002. Mrs. Simmons is happy to see her son-in-law, Lee Goldenberg, continue her husband’s vision for health through quality chiropractic care.
Dr. Goldenberg was inspired to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic after receiving great results from Dr. Simmons’ care. He was proud to renovate the Simmons office in spring 2007 and reopen as Simmons Family Chiropractic. We look forward to continuing the tradition of providing quality chiropractic care to the Tuscaloosa community.
