Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How does chiropractic work?
A.
Your nerves send vital information from the brain to the body, and travel through each spinal bone. Improper motion at one or more levels of the spine is called a subluxation. Subluxations interfere with the communication between brain and body, irritating nerves and hampering function. Spinal adjustments given by a licensed Doctor of Chiropractic can improve the proper communication of the nervous system with the body, helping a person to feel better and improve overall health.

Q. How do I get a subluxation?

A.
Some common causes of subluxation are physical, such as slips, falls, or accidents. Other causes are emotional, such as grief, anger, and stress. Chemicals can also cause this condition, such as alcohol, pollution, poor diet, etc. It is common to have a subluxation and not know it. Warning signs usually show up long after the initial problems begin. A thorough examination from a Doctor of Chiropractic can reveal the effects of a subluxation present in your spine.

Q. How do you remove subluxations?

A.
In our office, an adjustment usually involves a short and gentle thrust to restore proper alignment and motion to a subluxated spinal joint. Dr. Goldenberg uses his hands, an adjustment instrument, and a special adjusting table to assist in the correction of subluxations. There are many ways to adjust the spine, and other techniques and methods may be used to make each patient most comfortable in their care.

Q. Is Chiropractic safe?

A .
Chiropractic care has an excellent track record. A comprehensive examination will determine whether candidates are suitable for chiropractic care, and Dr. Goldenberg explains this as it relates to your case during your complimentary consultation in his office.

Q. What is that sound when I get adjusted?

A .Sometimes you hear a noise when an adjustment is given. This is merely the shifting of gas and fluids surrounding the joint. Whether or not a sound is heard does not correlate to quality or value of that particular adjustment.

Q. How long will I need Chiropractic care?
A. Usually patients feel the good effects of their adjustments early in their care plan, and choose to continue regular care to maintain proper function and prevent future episodes. A maintenance or preventative plan can help in this way, and focuses on structural correction for long-term benefits.

Q. What if I don't get better?
A.
Your health is our priority. If you are not improving under the care you are receiving in our office, we will refer you to the appropriate specialist or health facility.
